懐かしい。。。

I've noticed this year that every time the seasons change, I feel a bit 懐かしい (natsukashii: nostalgic). I think it's because it reminds me of the first time (last year) I experienced the new season in Japan. Winter is coming, and my mood has been rather pensive as I think back on the past year, and what I was doing (and with whom) at this time last year.

It makes me feel old and sad.

Someone once told me that we tend to get pensive, restless etc at this time of year (Fall) because for 18 years - or 21 if you went to college - we did something new each year - starting school. With that brought newness - new people, new places, new pencils. As adults we work off of a different clock but our inner selves often long (or become nostalgic for the past).

i agree, but if fall makes you pensive, christmas must make you suicidal. Though I hear xmas is totally different over there.
